Naimish Nagar Yojna: Connectivity — Airports, Expressways, Rail & Metro Status

Naimish Nagar Yojna sits along the Sitapur Road–IIM Road corridor in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) tehsil, north Lucknow, where an operational national highway and ring road meet several still-proposed rail and metro upgrades.

Where the scheme sits

Bakshi Ka Talab is a town located approximately 18 kilometers north of Lucknow along the Sitapur Road, serving as a suburban residential and commercial hub. Naimish Nagar Yojna's land parcels fall within this BKT tehsil belt, straddling the Sitapur Road, which is part of National Highway 24, and the nearby IIM Road, named after the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. This puts the scheme on an already-used arterial corridor rather than a fresh, unconnected greenfield site.

Airport

The scheme's only air link is Lucknow's existing international airport. Bakshi Ka Talab is approximately 28 km from the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport via Durgapur-Lamua Road, and independent route-planners put the driving distance between the airport and Bakshi Ka Talab at 18 miles, taking approximately 29 minutes to drive. As of July 2026, this airport link is operational; there is no dedicated airport road for Naimish Nagar itself, though a wider city-level upgrade is in the pipeline (see Elevated Corridors below).

Expressways and national highways

The site's primary road spine is Sitapur Road, which carries National Highway 24 designation. The NH-19 is a major route that connects people from cities like Kanpur, Varanasi, and Delhi to Lucknow, feeding into this corridor via the city's ring system. Two upgrades are directly relevant and were confirmed only in mid-2026:

Lucknow Outer Ring Road (Kisan Path) and elevated corridors

The most significant existing connectivity asset near the scheme is the Outer Ring Road. National Highway 230, also known as Kisan Path or Lucknow Outer Ring Road, is an 8-lane road that expands to 10 lanes at key junctions and is a 104 km long quadruple-carriageway project, and its route runs from Bakshi ka Talab back to Bakshi ka Talab, intersecting NH27, NH731 and NH30 — meaning BKT is effectively one terminal loop-point of the ring road. Status: the full ring road was ultimately completed and inaugurated in March 2024, so this link is operational as of July 2026.

A newer, still-proposed upgrade was announced in July 2026: an elevated road connecting Lucknow Airport to the Outer Ring Road has received government approval, though construction has not yet started. Separately, an elevated road above Shaheed Path has been approved, with a metro line planned to run over that elevated road — this is a city-wide project, not specific to Naimish Nagar, and remains at the approval stage.

Rail

The nearest working rail link is a local station rather than a major junction. A dedicated railway station in the North Eastern Zone is at walking distance from the locale, only 0.8 km away. Frequency is limited: there is a direct train departing from Bakshi Ka Talab and arriving at Lucknow City, with services departing once daily, taking approximately 47 minutes. There is no evidence of a dedicated freight corridor alignment running through the Naimish Nagar site itself, and no such claim should be assumed without further confirmation.

Metro and RRTS proposals

Metro (current): As of 2024, there are no metro stations in the Bakshi Ka Talab area, meaning Naimish Nagar currently has no metro access. The closest under-construction metro work is elsewhere in the city: the Union Budget 2026-27 allocated ₹1,450 crore for the Lucknow Metro Phase II East-West corridor (Charbagh-Basant Kunj), an 11.16 km corridor with 12 stations estimated at ₹5,801 crore — this corridor runs west of the city and does not serve the Sitapur/IIM Road side.

Metro (proposed, longer-term): A much larger mega-expansion has been floated but not approved for construction. Among 12 proposed routes are Rajajipuram-IIM (18 km) and Vasant Kunj-IIM (12 km), with 149.87 km planned elevated and 20.5 km underground. Officials caution that state government approval is required before DPRs can be prepared, and implementation is likely to occur in phases over several years. These IIM-Road-facing corridors, if built, would be the ones most relevant to Naimish Nagar, but as of mid-2026 they remain at the proposal stage with no confirmed timeline.

RRTS (proposed): Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister has announced plans for a rapid rail corridor connecting Lucknow, Unnao, and Kanpur, modeled after the Delhi-Meerut RRTS. This is a state-level proposal in early planning and does not currently include a branch toward the Sitapur Road/BKT corridor where Naimish Nagar is located.

Internal road network within the scheme

Within the township boundary, LDA's own planning documents describe a graded road hierarchy rather than a single access road. LDA is also planning master plan roads of 18 metres to 45 metres width for the development. On the ground, early works have focused on administrative infrastructure ahead of road-building: construction work for the first site office of the scheme has been completed in Purwa village of B.K.T. Tehsil. No RERA-registered internal road-construction timeline was found as of July 2026; this page will be updated once one is published.

Frequently asked questions

Does Naimish Nagar Yojna have metro access?

No. As of 2024–2025, no metro station serves the Bakshi Ka Talab/Sitapur Road area. A large 12-corridor metro expansion including IIM Road-facing routes has been proposed but has no approved DPR or construction timeline as of mid-2026.

How far is the nearest airport from the site?

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is roughly 28 km (about 29 minutes by road) from the Bakshi Ka Talab area where Naimish Nagar is located.

Which highway connects Naimish Nagar to the rest of Lucknow?

Sitapur Road, which carries National Highway 24, is the main arterial link. In July 2026 the government approved widening this road to six lanes, with work expected to start soon.

Is the Lucknow Outer Ring Road relevant to this scheme?

Yes. The 104 km Outer Ring Road (NH 230/Kisan Path) has Bakshi Ka Talab as one of its loop points and has been fully operational since its March 2024 inauguration, giving the area a bypass route around the city core.

Is there a rapid rail (RRTS) plan for this corridor?

A Lucknow–Unnao–Kanpur RRTS-style corridor has been announced by the state government, but it is an early-stage proposal and does not currently include a branch to the Sitapur Road/IIM Road side of the city.

What rail options exist near the site today?

Bakshi Ka Talab railway station, run by North Eastern Railway, is close to the scheme area, but service frequency to central Lucknow is limited — around one direct daily train taking about 47 minutes.
