Foundation Stone Ceremony
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, April 28, laid the foundation stone for Future City Police Commissionerate and said the state government plans to develop the proposed 'Bharat Future City' on the outskirts of Hyderabad as a world-class urban hub capable of competing with global cities such as Singapore. Speaking after performing the bhumi puja for the Future City Police Commissionerate, he said the government is developing key facilities in the area, including a Skills University and administrative offices.
Speaking alongside State Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister presented a strategic plan for the "Bharat Future City," which he described as a key driver of India's economic expansion.
Bullet Train Corridors: Three for Telangana
Among seven bullet train projects approved nationwide, three will specifically serve Telangana. These include high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Shamshabad to Pune, and Shamshabad to Amaravati and Chennai. The ongoing survey has altered the route, which will now run from Shamshabad through Future City, the proposed Dry Port, Haliya and Vadapalli.
NHSRCL has informed the Telangana government that the Operational Control Centre and the main maintenance depot for the high-speed rail network will also be established at Shamshabad. The facility is expected to serve as the central control hub for high-speed train services proposed from Hyderabad towards Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune, making Shamshabad a key operational centre for India's expanding bullet train network in southern India.
Village Inclusion Through Gram Sabhas
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said several surrounding villages have sought merger with the Future City and the state government would consider their inclusion if the respective gram panchayats passed relevant resolutions and submit them formally. He directed officials to conduct gram sabhas and ensure that villages were brought under the jurisdiction of Future City and its police commissionerate in accordance with the wishes of the residents.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's Future City project on the outskirts of Hyderabad received a major expansion, with 37 more villages in Rangareddy district seeking merger with the project area, taking the number of villages associated with Future City to 93. The development comes in addition to the 56 villages that were included in the project under an earlier government notification.
Global Investment and Operational Timeline
The Future City Development Corporation office would open on June 2, 2026, from which the government will hold global investment reviews on-site, aiming to streamline bureaucratic processes and attract international investment. He also instructed officials to conduct Gram Sabhas to allow villages to decide whether to join the Future City jurisdiction based on residents' consent.
Telangana's government has set an aggressive nine-month deadline for the Bharat Future City Master Plan. With 12 global firms bidding, this 765.28 sq km project aims to integrate AI hubs, EV manufacturing, and eco-tourism.
Farmer Compensation and Land Acquisition
Addressing the concerns of those whose lands are being acquired, the CM assured farmers of premium compensation and transparent rehabilitation. "Our government will ensure that no one suffers. I have directed officials to consider the plights of the poor and underprivileged compassionately," Reddy promised.
Revenue authorities issued a land acquisition notification on May 29 and are preparing to conduct a Gram Sabha before proceeding with the acquisition process. According to officials, compensation of up to Rs. 82 lakh per acre may be offered to affected landowners and farmers.
What Changes: Infrastructure and Governance
The government of Telangana on Monday, December 29, reorganised the existing three police commissionerates for Hyderabad and its suburbs and created a fourth commissionerate for the upcoming Future City. Existing commissionerates of Hyderabad and Cyberabad will continue with the same names, while Rachakonda has been renamed as Malkajgiri.
FCDA manages master planning, land-use zoning, infrastructure development, and sustainability planning, covering residential, commercial, IT, and employment zones.

The decision was finalized on Wednesday after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated the FCDA headquarters at Mirakhanpet in Kandukur mandal. The eco-friendly office complex, constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore, is equipped with solar power facilities and bio-sewage treatment plants.
The Telangana government has initiated steps to acquire an additional 301 acres of land for the expansion of Bharat Future City near Mucherla village in Rangareddy district.
