Telangana CM Lays Foundation Stone for Amazon's ₹60,000-Crore Hyperscale Data Centre at Bharat Future City

The foundation stone for Amazon Web Services' data centre was laid at Bharat Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad on July 15, 2026. Reddy laid the foundation stone for the data centre at Bharat Future City in the presence of state Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and other officials.

The foundation stone laying for the Amazon Web Services data centre in Bharat Future City will serve as a stepping stone for a wide range of investments and businesses to come forward and invest in Bharat Future City. CM Revanth termed the project a catalyst for attracting Fortune 500 companies to the planned city.

The Chief Minister directly challenged the multinational tech giant to push borders, urging Amazon to increase its investment to Rs 1 lakh crore by 2034. To ensure frictionless execution, he committed to hosting dedicated monthly monitoring meetings specifically for Amazon's developments, alongside regular monthly cabinet reviews for all new industries.

Investment Agreement & Timeline

In January 2025, at the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Revanth Reddy held key discussions with Amazon's management team and secured an in‑principle commitment for a ₹60,000‑crore investment in Telangana. Subsequently, in December 2025, a framework agreement for the ₹60,000‑crore investment was signed with Amazon during the Telangana Rising Global Summit.

Construction of the first phase will be completed within 24 months, with subsequent expansions spanning the next 10 years. In 24 months, Amazon's largest data centre in India will commence operations in Hyderabad, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said.

Land Allocation & State Support

The Telangana government has allocated 202 acres in Future City alongside 98 acres in Chandanvelly, granting incentives and concessions worth Rs 125 crore to the company. The new complex will drastically reinforce the digital infrastructure required for cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), e-commerce and digital banking.

IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said the government functioned as a facilitator rather than a regulator, and announced a dedicated data centre park at Aloor with uninterrupted power and water supply.

Amazon's Broader India Strategy

The company now plans to invest over $21 billion into cloud infrastructure in India from 2026 to 2030, establishing it as one of the largest global AI and cloud infrastructure investors in the country. This is part of the $48 billion planned investment recently announced by CEO Andy Jassy across the company's businesses in India.

Since AWS launched infrastructure in Hyderabad back in 2022, the company has invested more than $1.3 billion in cloud infrastructure in the AWS (Asia Pacific) Hyderabad Region.

Strategic Context: Telangana Rising 2047 & Economic Vision

CM Revanth laid out the vision for Telangana Rising-2047, aimed at driving the state toward a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Reddy said the government's sector-specific policies, including the Telangana Rising 2047 framework and dedicated plans for health and education, were drawing global investors to the state.

The state was also being developed through Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), Peri-Urban Region Economy (PURE) and Rural Agricultural Regional Economy (RARE) regional zones to avoid the pollution and traffic congestion seen in other metro cities.

Hyderabad's Data Centre Ecosystem Position

At Rs 60,000 crore, Amazon's facility is one of the largest data centres to come up in the country and in the city, which has become the third-largest data centre market in India. Hyderabad hosts nearly 34 operational facilities run by close to 20 major providers. Some of the large companies operating out of the city include CapitaLand's 40 MW facility, CtrlS facilities (including DC3 in Gachibowli and DC4 in the Financial District), and Iron Mountain's 5.5 MW site.

What This Means for Bharat Future City

Bharat Future City was being developed as a world-class investment and infrastructure hub, he said, with Amazon expected to serve as the anchor industry drawing Fortune 500 companies to the upcoming city. The AWS facility is positioned as validation of the Future City project and a catalyst for further tech and manufacturing investments in the peri-urban zone.
