Telangana Chief Secretary Orders Faster Industrial Infrastructure Rollout at Bharat Future City

What Happened

On July 10, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju held a review meeting with senior officials of the Industries and Commerce department at the Secretariat to assess the progress of key industrial infrastructure projects. The Chief Secretary took stock of progress on Bharat Future City, Zaheerabad Industrial City, Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, and other strategic initiatives, with TGIIC MD Shashanka briefing him on project status, infrastructure being created, investment prospects, and completion timelines.

Jaju instructed TGIIC to expedite the process to develop industrial infrastructure, and the government decided to develop investor-friendly infrastructure at all three flagship projects.

Strategic Focus and Directives

The Chief Secretary stressed that the department's primary objective should be to position Telangana as a preferred investment destination by facilitating industries with world-class infrastructure and a business-friendly ecosystem, noting that attracting domestic and global investments is essential for economic growth and large-scale employment generation.

Jaju emphasized that all departments and implementing agencies should function in close coordination to ensure timely execution without delays, and instructed officials to regularly monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks early, and resolve them through effective inter-departmental coordination.

The Chief Secretary noted that these flagship projects have the potential to transform Telangana's industrial landscape by attracting significant investments and promoting balanced regional development, asking officials to adopt a proactive approach in providing necessary infrastructure and investor facilitation services.

Bharat Future City: Project Overview

Bharat Future City (also called Future City Telangana or Fourth City Hyderabad) is planned and governed by the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) under the Telangana State Government, integrating world-class infrastructure, advanced technology hubs, and sustainable living solutions.

The development spreads over 30,000 acres with distinct residential, commercial, industrial, recreational, and green zones, designed as a Net Zero city aimed at achieving zero emissions, energy neutrality, and sustainable waste management.

Located strategically between Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar highways, the city ensures seamless connectivity to Hyderabad and other important regions. The development aligns with the government's plan to develop economic and industrial clusters in the Future City Area near Mucherla.

Related Industrial Projects Under Review

The Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City (ZISC) is set to move forward with infrastructure development expected in coming months under the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor, aiming to attract ₹15,000 crore in investments and generate nearly two lakh direct and indirect jobs. Phase I will be developed on 3,245 acres in Sangareddy district, with future phases planned in adjoining areas.

The project will host manufacturing units across food processing, automotive, metals, electrical equipment, rail locomotives, aircraft, military hardware, and other non-transport industries. The project is estimated to cost ₹2,369 crore, with TGIIC holding 51 percent equity worth ₹620.96 crore and NICDIT contributing 49 percent valued at ₹596 crore.

What Changes Next

The Chief Secretary directed officials to work with a clear focus on achieving the goals envisioned by the government. This acceleration order signals a shift from approval-stage planning to active implementation phase, with TGIIC now mandated to fast-track infrastructure development across all three flagship projects.

The directive to adopt proactive investor facilitation means streamlined land allotment, expedited clearances, and dedicated infrastructure support. All permissions related to layout approvals, land allotments to industries, IT and healthcare projects will be handled by FCDA, with the authority expected to give priority to high-rise buildings and offer special incentives to multinational companies.

As of July 2026, the focus shifts from administrative setup to ground-level acceleration—tender finalization, land acquisition completion, and commencement of trunk infrastructure work across all three industrial zones.
