Telangana Constructing 8-Km Takkellapalli Road to Bharat Future City at ₹30 Crore for Industrial Connectivity
The Telangana government is building a new road to ease access to its ambitious Future City project near Hyderabad. The road will run for eight kilometers from Takkellapalli, on the Hyderabad–Nagarjunasagar highway, through the villages of Kurmidda and Tatiparthi, at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.

| Road Length | 8 km |
|---|---|
| Cost | ₹30 crore |
| Starting Point | Takkellapalli on Hyderabad–Nagarjunasagar highway |
| Villages Covered | Kurmidda and Tatiparthi |
| Road Specification | Two-lane (upgraded from single-lane) |
| Industrial Acreage Allotted Nearby | 1,000 acres to 10 multinational companies |
| Primary Purpose | Heavy vehicle movement for industrial operations and construction |
| Planned Connection | To Ratan Tata Radial Road, linking to Regional Ring Road |
The Decision and Context
About 1,000 acres near Takkellapalli have been allotted to ten multinational companies for setting up factories. These companies require the transport of heavy machinery and construction material, and have asked authorities for a dedicated route to support their operations, prompting the new road project.
The new Takkellapalli road is meant to provide an alternative path and ease pressure on the existing route. At present, the main route to Future City runs via Tukkuguda and Meerkhanpet, and with construction activity picking up pace in Future City, heavy vehicles carrying construction material and machinery on this route is expected to increase further, raising congestion issues.
Road Specifications and Upgrade Work
The existing single-lane track is being upgraded into a two-lane road to handle the surge in heavy vehicle movement and support the growing transport needs of industries and future commercial activity in the area.
The road will be built to connect three nodes: Takkellapalli as the starting point on the national highway, passing through Kurmidda and Tatiparthi villages, serving the industrial zones that have already begun operations south of Hyderabad.
Broader Connectivity Strategy
Officials also plan to eventually connect this new road to the Ratan Tata Radial Road, which would give Future City traffic an alternative link toward the Regional Ring Road and, via Kongarakalan, toward the Outer Ring Road.
This integration is part of Bharat Future City, also called Future City Telangana, a 30,000-acre planned urban development south of Hyderabad, described by the Telangana government as India's first Net-Zero Greenfield Smart City. It is governed by the Future City Development Authority (FCDA), established in March 2025.
Status and Impact
As of September 2026, the road project is in active construction. The new connectivity is expected to immediately reduce congestion on the existing Tukkuguda–Meerkhanpet route and provide operational efficiency for the ten multinational manufacturers already operating or preparing to operate in the Takkellapalli industrial zone.
The project signals accelerating infrastructure investment in support of Bharat Future City's industrial and commercial development, with emphasis on goods movement and heavy logistics necessary to establish advanced manufacturing and data centre operations in the region.
