Rajasthan Creates Special Purpose Vehicle for Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar Industrial Smart City—Phase A Activation Underway

Formation of Rajasthan Industrial Corridors Development Corporation

RIDCO was incorporated on 15 March 2022 as a special purpose vehicle to develop the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar Industrial Area. The corporation was formed between RIICO (an undertaking of the Government of Rajasthan) and NICDIT on a 51:49 equity basis for the implementation of the industrial township project. The registered address is Udyog Bhawan, Tilak Marg, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302005, and the company's current status is Active.

The SPV is entrusted with implementing the infrastructure works of the JPMIA node. NICDIT will contribute its equity share in cash and the Government of Rajasthan (through RIICO) will contribute its equity through transfer of project land to the SPV.

Strategic Location and Connectivity

The Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area spans 1,578 acres and is strategically located between Jodhpur and Pali, Rajasthan, with easy access to NH-62 and SH-64. The site is 60 km from Marwar Junction on the Dedicated Freight Corridor and 30 km from Jodhpur Railway Station. The node is spread over approximately 1,578 acres between Jodhpur and Pali, around 30 km from each city, with strong regional connectivity through NH-62 and SH-64, and additional access to NH-25 and SH-68.

Phase A Development and Project Scope

The industrial township is planned for execution in three phases: Phase A, Phase B, and Phase C. The current tender covers the development of Phase A (Activation area) covering approximately 641.88 hectares (1,586 acres). In the first stage, 640 hectares will be developed at a cost of ₹465 crores.

The first phase is estimated to cost ₹465 crore and is planned to be completed within six years, generating over 1.5 lakh employment opportunities. However, infrastructure works being developed as per the current tender are related to the development of Phase A only, which shall be planned and engineered into a world class industrial development.

Employment and Economic Impact

The project is expected to generate 55,000 direct employment opportunities and 1 lakh indirect employment opportunities. The project is expected to attract investment of approximately ₹7,500 crore and generate around 40,000 employment opportunities.

Target sectors include textiles and apparel, agro and food processing, engineering goods, automobiles, handicrafts and building materials. The plan includes a 57-hectare solar park, ensuring renewable energy integration.

Integration with National Industrial Corridor Framework

The Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area is one of nine projects under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), which is one of 11 industrial corridor projects being developed by the Government of India as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved 12 new project proposals totalling an investment of ₹28,602 crore under the NICDP, including Jodhpur-Pali.

New industrial cities are being developed as 'Greenfield Smart Cities' of global standards, built on a 'plug-and-play' and 'walk-to-work' principle, anticipating future demand.

Project Status (as of July 2026)

Tendering has been completed for the establishment of the township. An RFQ-cum-RFP was issued for engagement of a consultant to act as Programme Manager for Infrastructure Development of the Industrial Township in Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar Industrial Area-Special Investment Region under the DMIC Project. For the first phase, works costing ₹465 crores (out of total ₹922 crore) have been sanctioned.

Land Acquisition and Village Impact

In October 2020, the Pali District Collector transferred all government land from nine revenue villages to the JPMIA Development Authority. The nine villages are Dungarpur, Singari, Dhundhali, Doodali, Neembli Patelan, Neembli Bramnan, Danasani, Rohat and Dalpatgarh. In 2021, villagers of Dungarpur filed a case against the transfer of 864.6148 hectares of 'public utility' land which included land reserved for gauchar (pasture), agor (water catchment areas) and orans (sacred groves) to the JPMIA Development Authority.
