YEIDA Board Approves New Industrial Corridor Stretching Towards Agra

What the Board decided

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Board approved a proposal to develop a new industrial corridor on the southern side of the airport towards Agra. Authorities will identify suitable locations for new industries in the area. The YEIDA Board has approved the proposal, and work on preparing the master plan is expected to begin soon.

The decision was taken during the 91st Board meeting of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) held on Wednesday. The proposal received approval after considering the growing demand for industrial development around the airport.

Who decided, and how

The decisions were taken during the Authority's 91st Board Meeting, chaired by Alok Kumar, Chairman of YEIDA and Additional Chief Secretary (Industrial Development), with Board Secretary Rakesh Kumar Singh presenting the agenda. The Board reviewed the Authority's financial position, ongoing industrial projects, transport initiatives, land acquisition and rehabilitation measures before giving approval to several proposals designed to boost investment and urban expansion in the Yamuna Expressway region.

Second corridor around the airport — and its link to New Agra

This will be the second large industrial corridor planned around the airport. Earlier, YEIDA had already approved an industrial corridor covering around 8000 hectares between Tappal and the airport. With the latest approval, another master plan will now be prepared to expand industrial development in the region and support future investment.

The new corridor's direction — south of the airport towards Agra — places it within the same broader Yamuna Expressway growth belt as the New Agra Urban Centre, YEIDA's separate flagship township project. YEIDA completed the master plan for the New Agra Urban Centre, set to be developed across 12,200 hectares in 58 villages of the Agra district. Designed to accommodate a population of 14.6 lakh and generate employment for 8.5 lakh people, the plan prioritises green and pollution-free development because Agra falls in the Taj Trapezium Zone, so only white and green category industries will be allowed there.

As of this record, no hectare figure, village list, or route map has been published for the new southern-Agra corridor itself — those details are expected once the master plan process referenced by the Board begins.

Other approvals at the same 91st meeting

• A budget of Rs 50 crore was approved to strengthen fire safety and emergency response services for high-rise buildings in Yamuna City, with funds to be transferred to the Fire Department.
• The Board approved allocation of 30 acres of land in Yamuna City for a modern National Medical Research Institute intended as a national centre for medical research and disease prevention.
• A proposal was cleared to lease 200 metres of land near the Dhanauri Wetland for disposal and management of solid waste generated by the Noida International Airport.
• Officials were instructed to issue reservation letters for 7 per cent developed abadi plots immediately after completion of land acquisition, to provide relief to affected villagers.
• The Board approved adoption of Noida Authority's policy framework for future hotel development schemes, and cleared land acquisition and a Master Plan road linking Sector 7B and Sector 8D.
• The Board also reviewed progress of NTPC-supported electric and hydrogen-powered bus services.

Financial position reviewed at the meeting

During financial year 2026-27, YEIDA spent Rs 2101 crore on various development projects, of which around Rs 1741 crore — nearly 82 per cent — was used for land acquisition. Total receipts had risen to ₹1,371.75 crore by 30 June 2026, compared with ₹640.01 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier.

YEIDA is currently developing five industrial parks in the region. Lease deeds were completed for 63 industrial plots, possession of plots was handed over to 118 allottees, building plans were approved in 62 cases, and twelve industrial units were registered under the Factory Act.

Practical effect

The Board's approval is a policy-level go-ahead, not a finished plan. It authorises YEIDA to commission and prepare a master plan for the new southern-Agra corridor; work on preparing the master plan is expected to begin soon. Until that master plan is drafted, there are no confirmed boundaries, village lists, plot rates, or land-use splits for this specific corridor — investors and residents should treat any such figures currently circulating as unofficial until YEIDA publishes the plan.

Separately, the Rs 50 crore fire-safety allocation and the FY2026-27 expenditure review are administrative/budgetary decisions that take effect through normal departmental transfers and do not require further board approval.
