NICDC Launches Two-Day Cross-Learning Programme at AURIC Smart City
The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), in collaboration with Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL), on Thursday commenced a two-day cross-learning site visit to the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area (AURIC Smart City) in Maharashtra to facilitate knowledge sharing, strengthen institutional capacities and promote best practices in the development of Greenfield industrial smart cities across the country.

What happened
NICDC and MITL commenced a two-day cross-learning site visit bringing together senior officials from state governments, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), Programme Managers for New Cities (PMNCs), EPC contractors and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge and share best practices in planning, implementation and operation of Greenfield industrial smart cities.
The visit included presentations on the development of the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area, demonstrations of digital planning and monitoring systems, and site visits to operational industrial units, utility infrastructure, connectivity projects and industrial development facilities.

Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is one of India's most well-planned, Greenfield & smart industrial cities being developed over an area of 10,000 acres in Maharashtra, as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), strategically located at Shendra and Bidkin near Aurangabad. AURIC's development and implementation is being undertaken by Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC).
The development proceeds in two phases: Phase I centered on the Shendra Industrial Area and Phase II on the Bidkin Industrial Area, collectively covering 4,000 hectares. Phase I at Shendra prioritizes trunk infrastructure such as roads, utilities, power supply, and wastewater treatment across an initial 18.5 square kilometers.
Next steps
BHAVYA will focus on developing modern, ready-to-use industrial ecosystems, building on the success of industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. The initiative will be implemented in partnership with states and private players, with parks ranging in size from 100 to 1,000 acres.
