YEIDA's 92nd Board Meeting: Taiwan City, Medical Hub and University Township Approved (August 17, 2026)

What was decided

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) board — governing the region also referred to as Yamuna City or the YEIDA New City — met for its 92nd Board Meeting on August 17, 2026 in Greater Noida. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday took several important proposals related to industrial development, medical education, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, transportation, sports and farmers at its 92nd Board meeting in Greater Noida, according to a statement. The decisions will accelerate the development of the Jewar-Noida Airport region as an integrated industrial and institutional hub.

This was a land-reservation and in-principle approval decision — it earmarks specific sectors and acreages for named uses and revises a farmer compensation rate. It is not a construction start, tender award, or RERA registration; those steps, where applicable, would follow in later board or executive actions.

Taiwan City — Sector 6, 300 acres

YEIDA has approved the reservation of 300 acres in Sector 6 for Taiwan City. The project is aimed at attracting Taiwan-based companies and investment in electronics, technology and manufacturing. The development is expected to create a dedicated ecosystem for Taiwanese investment and manufacturing in the Yamuna City region.

Medical hub, university township and pharma cluster

One of the most significant decisions taken at the meeting was the establishment of a medical hub on 500 acres of institutional land-use area in Sectors 13 and 14, expected to expand regional healthcare infrastructure.

YEIDA has also approved plans for a 480-acre university township in Sector 14. The development is expected to create new opportunities in higher education while supporting employment in education and allied services.

Adjacent to Taiwan City, another major proposal involves reserving 100 to 125 acres in Sector 6 for a dedicated Pharmaceutical Formulation Manufacturing Cluster. The cluster is planned for companies manufacturing medicines in line with national and international Good Manufacturing Practice standards. It could include manufacturing units for tablets, capsules, injectables, oral liquids, topical preparations and other finished dosage forms.

Mandi, stadium and bus terminal

Around 36 acres in Sector 34 have been identified to establish a mandi with modern facilities, intended to improve facilities related to the marketing, storage and trade of agricultural produce, and provide farmers in the region with a more organised market system.

Coverage of the stadium's exact sector varies: several reports place a modern international stadium spread across approximately 50 acres in Sector 23-D, while at least one outlet lists it under Sector 23B; readers should treat the sector number as provisional pending an official YEIDA notification.

Separately, in view of the rapidly growing transportation requirements around Noida International Airport in Jewar, a decision has been taken to identify land for establishing an interstate bus terminal in Sector 23C, which will provide better public transport connectivity to passengers travelling to and from the airport, entrepreneurs and the general public. The board separately approved raising the city bus fleet, with a proposal to increase the number of city buses from the existing 100 to 500 in the coming days.

Revised farmer land-purchase rate

In view of rapid industrial and infrastructure development in the region, the Board approved a proposal to revise land purchase rates from farmers through mutual consent. The existing rate for purchasing land through mutual consent for planned development in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bulandshahr districts under Phase-1 of the Authority has been increased from Rs 4,300 per square metre to Rs 4,558 per square metre. Alternatively, land can be purchased at Rs 4,037 per square metre along with a 7 per cent abadi plot.

Other approvals at the same meeting

The board also cleared items unrelated to the new-city cluster but part of the same agenda: a proposal to establish a medical device testing facility at YEIDA's Medical Device Park in accordance with the US FDA's Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment, with a Technical Expert Committee to examine the technical, financial and institutional aspects of the project. A civil-works item was also cleared: the construction of a culvert (minor bridge) over the Karban River on the service road at Chainage 161.21 of the Yamuna Expressway in Agra, within the YEIDA area.

Financial backdrop

The meeting also reviewed YEIDA's revenue performance. In the financial year 2025-26, receipts up to 31 July stood at Rs 974.37 crore, while in 2026-27 the same figure rose to Rs 1,853.74 crore — an increase of 90.25 per cent. Under the industrial/mixed land scheme, state receipts totalled Rs 1,195.99 crore. Expenditure also increased to Rs 3,690.64 crore.

Practical effect

For now, these are board-level approvals of land reservation and rate revision, not completed developments. No RERA registrations, plot-scheme brochures, or construction timelines for Taiwan City, the medical hub, university township, mandi, stadium or bus terminal were reported as of the meeting date. The immediate operative effect is on farmers: the revised mutual-consent rate of ₹4,558/sqm (or ₹4,037/sqm plus 7% abadi plot) applies to land acquisition in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Bulandshahr under Phase-1. For investors and prospective allottees, the practical takeaway is that these sectors (6, 13, 14, 23C, 23D/23B and 34) are now formally earmarked for specific uses, which typically precedes detailed planning, tendering and eventual plot or lease schemes — but each of those subsequent steps still needs its own notification.
