What Happened: Two Major Virtual Groundbreakings

CM Adityanath laid the foundation for Escorts Kubota Limited's proposed manufacturing facility in YEIDA's Sector 10, allotting 154 acres for a project involving investment of around Rs 2,029 crore. A virtual groundbreaking ceremony was also held for Spark Minda Group's manufacturing projects in YEIDA Sectors 10 and 24, with an investment of around Rs 1,166 crore.

The ceremonies took place during the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi on Wednesday, 19 August, with the Chief Minister speaking virtually from Lucknow.

Escorts Kubota: Tractor and Equipment Manufacturing

The Escorts Kubota facility is planned to produce about 60,000 tractors annually, along with tractor and agricultural machinery components. The first phase alone will add capacity for up to 60,000 tractors and 15,000 units of construction equipment every year.

The plant sits close to the Yamuna Expressway and near the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is being developed as a major cargo hub for the region. Once every phase is complete, the company expects this site to rank among the largest facilities anywhere in the Kubota Group's global network.

This is a revised and phased version of a larger plan. Back in November 2025, YEIDA had allotted around 200 acres to the company for a Rs 4,500 crore facility, but what has come up now is a revised version starting smaller at 154 acres and Rs 2,000+ crore, with room to scale further as later phases roll out.

Spark Minda: Automotive Electronics Manufacturing

The Spark Minda projects are expected to generate about 6,440 jobs and manufacture nearly two million units annually, including electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers and other automotive electronic components. The ground-breaking ceremony for the two facilities, located in Sector 10 and Sector 24 of YEIDA, was held virtually in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the sidelines of the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.

The facilities extend Spark Minda's existing manufacturing footprint in the region, where its security systems, die-casting and wiring harness plants in Noida and Greater Noida already form a significant part of the company's manufacturing operations in India.

Broader Strategic Context: Japan City Initiative

CM Adityanath has also announced plans to develop a dedicated Japanese City across around 500 acres at Sector 5A of YEIDA, which will offer industrial, commercial and residential facilities for Japanese companies and citizens, forming part of Uttar Pradesh's efforts to deepen investment and technology ties with Japan.

More than 200 leading Japanese industrialists, CEOs, business representatives and policymakers are participating in the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 held from August 18 to 23, with the high-level Japanese delegation led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture.

Funding and Timeline

Escorts Kubota's investment will be funded through proceeds from an earlier preferential share issue to Kubota Corporation and internal accruals. Like most large industrial builds, the project will come up in phases rather than all at once, with the first phase alone adding capacity for up to 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units every year.

No specific completion timeline for the full facility development has been disclosed in the groundbreaking announcement.
