Status and what has been announced
Taj Uvanta Signature Residences is at the upcoming stage. On 31 October 2026, Ambuja Neotia Group and IHCL outlined nine upcoming hospitality-linked projects in West Bengal, with the Kolkata pairing of Taj Ananta Kutir and Taj Uvanta Signature Residences reported at 248 hotel keys and 354 apartments.
The announcement tied the project to the unveiling of AltAir House in Kolkata's Ecospace Business Park, New Town, the same week. Reports put the combined investment for the nine West Bengal projects at around Rs 3,000 crore over the next five to seven years, while some reports give a figure of Rs 2,700 crore to Rs 3,000 crore.
Under West Bengal and central RERA rules, registration of a real estate project is compulsory under section 3 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, and that registration is made with WBRERA.
Developer and partnership
Ambuja Neotia Group says it started in real estate around the mid-1980s with a small number of housing projects in and around Kolkata. The group's Kolkata residential projects include Udayan on the EM Bypass, Utsa and Ujjwala in New Town, and Upohar off the EM Bypass.
In July 2025, IHCL and Ambuja Neotia Group signed an agreement for 15 new hotels, predominantly under the Taj brand, to come on stream over the next five years. Taj Uvanta Signature Residences is one of the Kolkata projects under that collaboration.
Location and connectivity
The project's sector and road are not part of the public announcement. The group's other Kolkata residential projects are concentrated in New Town and along the EM Bypass, the two corridors that frame the project's likely catchment.
- Nearest operational metro to New Town: Salt Lake Sector V, the Green Line terminus. Reports put it roughly 5 to 7 km from Action Area I, a 15 to 25 minute cab or auto ride.
- Orange Line (Kolkata Metro Line 6): planned at about 29.9 km with 24 stations, from New Garia to the airport along the EM Bypass, through Salt Lake and New Town. It meets the Yellow Line at Jai Hind Bimanbandar at the airport.
- Expressway and elevated links: a four-lane expressway connecting Newtown-Rajarhat to Madhyamgram-Barasat is planned, and a seven-kilometre elevated corridor linking the EM Bypass to Newtown-Rajarhat is also planned.
Metro progress as of October 2026
A 9.8 km stretch with 9 stations of Kolkata Metro is open between Kavi Subhash and Beleghata. Trial runs on the Orange Line from Beleghata to IT Centre (Sector V) began on 10 October 2026, with passenger service targeted for December 2026, subject to Commissioner of Railway Safety clearance. The sections from IT Centre to City Centre-2 and from City Centre-2 to the airport are under construction, with completion targets in 2027 that have been set by the executing agency.
