Rajasthan Housing Board Jagatpura: 144 Flats for Journalists in Jaipur Launched

What was launched and where

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched four Rajasthan Housing Board residential projects on 17 October 2026 at the Constitution Club in Jaipur, adding 457 homes across Jaipur, Kishangarh and Bhiwadi. The Jagatpura scheme is the journalist housing project among them, and it is described in coverage as the Indira Gandhi Nagar scheme in Sector 9.

The building is a multi-storey block of MIG-B flats, with 144 units in total. Coverage says the flats are meant to meet the housing needs of media professionals, and that the state budget had earlier announced housing for accredited journalists.

Sector 9 sits in Jagatpura, one of the eastern residential areas of Jaipur. Jagatpura is close to Tonk Road and Jaipur International Airport, which is about 2.7 km away.

Status: pre-launch listing versus launch coverage

Our project listing carries a pre-launch status. Coverage published after the 17 October event describes the 144 flats as launched and says registration for flats has begun under the scheme.

The scheme has been called by more than one name in coverage, including the Special Registration Scheme-2026 and the Vishisht Panjikaran Yojana-2026. Readers should treat the official allotment notice as the reference for the scheme name and terms.

Configuration, size and price

Each flat has a built-up area of 118.38 sq m and a super built-up area of 154.639 sq m. The estimated cost is Rs 74.68 lakh per flat. Dividing that cost by the super built-up area gives roughly Rs 4,486 per sq ft; this is our own arithmetic, not a rate set by the developer.

The Chief Minister announced Phase-1 discounts of Rs 15 lakh on the total cost of a 3 BHK flat and Rs 12 lakh on a 2 BHK flat in Phase-1 of the residential project. Coverage refers to 3 BHK and 2 BHK flats in the discount announcement, while describing the 144 units as MIG-B flats.

Coverage of the launch describes Phase-1 as the first stage of the scheme and says housing schemes will follow in other administrative divisions in a phased manner.

Eligibility and allotment

Applicants must be accredited, full-time journalists working in Rajasthan who depend on journalism for their livelihood. The annual family income must be above Rs 3 lakh.

Flats will be allotted by lottery, subject to eligibility conditions and income-based preferences. Allotment is therefore not first-come, first-served.

Location and connectivity

Jagatpura is served by Tonk Road and by Jaipur International Airport, roughly 2.7 km from the locality. Khatipura railway station is about 7 km away and Jagatpura railway station about 5.5 km. The nearest operational Pink Line metro station is Vivek Vihar, around 15 km away, so buyers who rely on metro access should plan for road travel.

Local shopping and healthcare include Vivacity Mall and JTM Mall near the Jagatpura flyover, along with several hospitals in the area.

Infrastructure in progress

The Union Cabinet approved Jaipur Metro Phase 2 in April 2026, a north-south corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod with 36 stations, targeted for completion by September 2031. The state has also said it is considering metro expansion to residential areas such as Jagatpura, but no route or dates have been set for that extension.

The Northern Ring Road, estimated at about Rs 6,500 crore, is expected to improve access to Jagatpura, Mansarovar and Sirsi Road. As of early 2026 it was at the land acquisition stage rather than under active construction.
