BRS Delegation Urges Railway Minister to Include Zaheerabad Station in Hyderabad-Mumbai Bullet Train DPR
A BRS delegation led by Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, along with MLAs Chinta Prabhakar and K Manik Rao, met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Parliament on Thursday and submitted a memorandum urging inclusion of Zaheerabad railway station in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Hyderabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor and sanction of a bullet train stop.

What Happened
A BRS delegation comprising Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, MLAs Chinta Prabhakar and K Manik Rao met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Parliament and submitted a memorandum. The delegation also included former Medak DCCB Chairman M Shivakumar and highlighted the strategic and industrial importance of Zaheerabad.
The Request
The BRS delegation urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to include Zaheerabad railway station in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Hyderabad–Mumbai High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train) Corridor and sanction a stop there. Ravichandra said Zaheerabad had emerged as a major industrial hub and pointed out that the Centre had approved a 12,656-acre National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ), an Industrial Smart City and other key industrial projects, making it one of the fastest-growing manufacturing centres in the country.
Justification: Industrial Growth & Farmer Contribution
The delegation argued that thousands of farmers had voluntarily given their land for these projects. The BRS leaders argued that a bullet train stop at Zaheerabad would provide seamless connectivity between Mumbai and one of India's emerging manufacturing centres, facilitating faster movement of investors, industrialists, skilled professionals and international business partners while boosting exports, logistics efficiency and regional economic growth.
Projected Benefits
According to the memorandum, a bullet train stop at Zaheerabad would improve connectivity for industries, attract more domestic and foreign investment, generate over three lakh direct and indirect jobs, and support manufacturing and exports. The delegation also said the proposed stop would benefit neighbouring regions of Karnataka, including Bidar, Humnabad and Basavakalyan, as well as border districts of Maharashtra such as Udgir and Latur, thereby expanding the passenger base across three states.
Zaheerabad Industrial Context
The Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City will cover 3,245 acres and is being developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme in the first phase. Target sectors for the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City have been identified as automobile, electrical equipment, food processing, machinery and equipment, metals and non-metallic based industries, transport equipment. The project is designed to attract Rs 150 billion in investments and is projected to create up to 2 lakh direct and indirect jobs, spurring economic growth in the region.
Bullet Train Project Status
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) recently informed the state government that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been finalised after completion of the survey. The proposed Mumbai–Hyderabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is a 767 km proposed high-speed rail line that will connect both cities through Pune with 11 stations in Maharashtra and Telangana. Station names include Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai (possibly at Navi Mumbai International Airport), Lonawala, Pune, Kurkumb/Daund, Akluj, Pandharpur, Solapur, Kalaburagi (Gulbarga), Zaheerabad and Hyderabad.

Zaheerabad's strategic location on National Highway-65 and its proximity to Karnataka and Maharashtra was highlighted by the delegation, along with the importance of the proposed dry port, Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor and Hyderabad-Mumbai Economic Corridor in strengthening the region's industrial potential.
