The Global City mixed-use township, being developed by HSIIDC, is set to receive a wide-ranging network linking it to major NCR highways: the Dwarka Expressway, NH-48 (Delhi-Jaipur Highway), Pataudi Road and the KMP Expressway, with multi-route access intended to head off future traffic congestion as the project scales up. A grade-separated interchange and underground link will connect Global City directly to Dwarka Expressway, while a new wide arterial road near Narsinghpur will provide a direct link to NH-48.

This represents a shift in the township's infrastructure strategy from single-corridor dependency to a multi-nodal connectivity model.

The HSIIDC-led project is set to receive this push via a wide-ranging network planned to link it with major NCR highways, with multi-route access intended to head off future traffic congestion as the project scales up. The announcement was published as of 31 July 2026 (today), confirmed through official HSIIDC statements and Haryana government review meetings chaired by Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh.

The Numbers: Scale and Investment

Global City Gurugram is a 1,002-acre smart township developed by HSIIDC in Sectors 36-37D along Dwarka Expressway, integrating residential, commercial, and institutional zones, and projected to create 5.2 lakh jobs and house 1.8 lakh residents with 125+ amenities.

It is being positioned as the Central Business District of the NCR, carrying an investment potential of around Rs 1 lakh crore (roughly $15 billion) and projected to generate over five lakh jobs once fully operational.

Phase 1 (587 acres) will be completed by December 2026 with ₹940 crore infrastructure investment. The first phase covers 587 acres and focuses entirely on building roads, drainage systems, underground utility corridors, power supply infrastructure, and a 350-million-litre water reservoir.

What It Changes: Real Estate and Traffic Impact

Experts said the improved connectivity is likely to further boost real estate investment in surrounding sectors, even as they stressed that Global City's long-term success will depend on holistic, climate-resilient urban planning rather than road links alone. The Dwarka Expressway connectivity has driven 15-20% property appreciation in surrounding areas, with prices doubling over the past four years.

Urban transport experts said large greenfield projects need multiple entry and exit points rather than dependence on a single highway, which would ease congestion, aid emergency response and improve freight movement, but cautioned that road-widening alone will not ensure sustainable mobility, calling for parallel investment in mass transit, and infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.

What's Next: Phase Completion and Build-Out Timeline

Work on the first phase began last year and is targeted for completion by the end of 2026, with full build-out envisioned through 2035. As of early 2026, roughly 20% of Phase 1 work is complete, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has officially confirmed a December 2026 target for Phase 1 completion.

Global City is being planned in Gurugram on Dwarka Expressway as a world-class futuristic city based on live, work, and play with a transit-oriented walk-to-work based future-ready and environmentally resilient design, featuring multiple access from National Highway-48, Pataudi Road, and Dwarka Expressway with a mixed land use of 56.08% commercial, 40.05% residential, 2.73% institutional and 1.14% utility.
