Connectivity & Access
Global City Gurugram: Connectivity — Airports, Expressways, Metro & RRTS
Global City, HSIIDC's roughly 1,000-acre township on Sectors 36–37B of Gurugram, sits directly on the now fully operational Dwarka Expressway and NH-48, with internal transit, metro-spur and regional rail links at varying stages of construction and approval as of mid-2026.

Airport access
Status: operational road link; no airport inside the plan. Global City does not have its own airport — it relies on Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. It's 20 minutes from IGI Airport, 20-30 minutes from Cyber City, and under 20 minutes from South Delhi. This is possible because a dedicated tunnel stretch links the expressway directly to Terminal 3, including a 3.6 km, 8-lane shallow tunnel, cutting travel time from nearby sectors to the airport to 15–20 minutes, without a single traffic signal.
Expressways and highways
Status: operational. The township's core road frontage is already built and open to traffic. The Global City boasts excellent accessibility via direct connections to the 8-lane Dwarka Expressway (Northern Peripheral Road) and Pataudi Road. The 29-kilometer Dwarka Expressway is fully operational as of 2026, holding the title of the world's longest elevated urban road.
The site also sits close to National Highway 48. It is close to the Delhi–Jaipur Highway and the Central Peripheral Road (CPR).
Further out, the region is served by the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway, also known as the Western Peripheral Expressway — an HSIIDC-linked project. The Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) or Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway (KMP Expressway), is an operational 6-lane, 135.6 km-long Expressway in the Haryana state of India. The remaining 83-km-long Kundli to Manesar section of KMP expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 19 November 2018. HSIIDC is also implementing a few marque infrastructure projects like Western Peripheral Expressway (KMP Expressway), Global City, and Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub.
Rail and freight corridors
Status: existing logistics infrastructure nearby; freight corridor influence is regional. The broader Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor passes through the wider Gurugram region. The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor goes through this region. Existing freight and container facilities in the area include the Garhi Harsaru dry port. Gurugram's strategic location has fostered the development of significant logistic hubs, including ICD Gurugram-Garhi Harsaru and Gateway Rail Freight Limited.
Direct passenger-rail access to the plan itself is limited: a planned metro spur to Gurugram railway station has been decoupled from the main metro project to protect its 2027 target. As of February 24, 2026, the 1.8 km spur to the Gurgaon Railway Station has been put on hold as a combined project. Feeder buses and a skywalk are the interim plan for that link.
Metro and internal MRTS/LRT
Status: internal loop proposed; external metro spur planned/DPR stage. The master plan includes a dedicated internal transit loop. Internal MRTS Loop: There will be a 6 km mass rapid transit system with six stations inside Global City. Some plans describe this as a Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system rather than a full metro, paired with electric buses and cycle tracks; other reports flag Global City's transit design principle. The logistics in this regard include having a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) line that covers six kilometers and has six transit stations.
External connectivity is planned via a short spur to the wider Gurugram metro network. This entire network of internal infrastructure is then connected through the 1.85-km Metro spur line with the Gurugram-Manesar-Panchgaon metro rail line. One version of the plan even has this loop interchanging with a future orbital/RRTS terminal at Pachgaon. Pachgaon: RRTS and Orbit Rail multi-mode terminal.
The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) project nearest to Global City is the Millennium City Centre–Cyber City corridor with a spur to Dwarka Expressway, approved by the Union Cabinet. The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved Metro Connectivity from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City with Spur to Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram covering the distance of 28.50 km having 27 stations on the route, at a total completion cost of Rs.5,452 crore. As of early 2026, the first stretch is under active construction. Civil construction (pilling and pillar casting) is actively progressing on the 15.2 km stretch from Millennium City Centre to Sector 101.
A separate line that would run closer to Global City itself — Sector 56 to Panchgaon (Manesar) — remains at the planning stage. The Sector 56 to Panchgaon (Manesar) line is a separate 35.2 km corridor; as of early 2026, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is under final state review.
Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)
Status: DPR approved; construction targeted from August 2026. The Delhi–Gurugram–SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror) RRTS corridor, developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is the long-distance rapid-rail line most often associated with the Dwarka Expressway/Global City corridor. NCRTC Board, chaired by Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, in its meeting held on 6th December 2018, has approved the DPR of Delhi-Gurugram-SNB RRTS corridor. Its main-line station list runs through several Gurugram nodes. Stations on Main-Line include Sarai Kale Khan, INA, Munirka, Aerocity, Cyber City, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Kherki Daula, Manesar, Panchgaon, Bilaspur Chowk, Dharuhera Depot, MBIR, Rewari, Bawal, SNB, Khairthal, Alwar. As of late 2025/early 2026, construction had not yet begun. Construction is slated to begin in August 2026, with the commercial launch planned for November 2031, marking a six-year execution window.
Internal road network
Status: partially under construction as part of Phase 1. Within the township boundary, HSIIDC's approved plan specifies a hierarchy of internal roads separate from the internal MRTS loop. Both 45-meter-wide sub-arterial roads and 60-meter-wide arterial highways will be present. The plan also earmarks interstate/intercity bus terminals and dedicated cycling and pedestrian paths. The development of interstate and intercity bus terminals close to the township would improve the area's connectivity. Bicyclists and pedestrians will have their own paths in the Global City.
Funding for this first tranche of internal infrastructure has been allocated. Phase 1, spanning 587 acres, involves INR 940 crore in infrastructure work including roads, a utility tunnel, and a 350 million-litre reservoir. The project received formal environmental clearance to proceed. The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change has given the ambitious Global City project in Gurugram, Haryana, environmental permission, with the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in charge of carrying out the project.

Frequently asked questions
Is Global City Gurugram connected to Delhi's airport yet?
Yes for road access. There is no airport inside the plan, but the Dwarka Expressway — now fully operational with a dedicated tunnel into IGI Airport Terminal 3 — puts the site roughly 20–30 minutes from the airport by road.
Will there be a metro station inside Global City?
The master plan proposes an internal 6 km MRTS/LRT loop with six stations, plus a 1.85 km spur connecting to the planned Gurugram-Manesar-Panchgaon metro line. As of early 2026 the external Panchgaon line was still at DPR/state-review stage, so neither the internal loop nor this external spur is under construction yet.
What is the status of the Dwarka Expressway itself?
Fully operational. NHAI completed the full 29 km route, including the airport-link tunnel to IGI Terminal 3, by June 2025.
Is a regional rapid rail (RRTS) line coming near Global City?
The Delhi–Gurugram–SNB RRTS corridor, whose DPR NCRTC approved in December 2018, runs through Gurugram nodes like Cyber City, IFFCO Chowk and Kherki Daula. Construction was expected to start around August 2026 with completion targeted for November 2031, so it remains a pre-construction/approved project rather than an operational line.
Does a dedicated freight corridor run through Global City?
No dedicated freight corridor runs through the plan itself, but the wider Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor passes through the Gurugram region, and established freight/logistics facilities such as ICD Gurugram-Garhi Harsaru and Gateway Rail Freight Limited operate nearby.
What internal roads exist within the Global City plan?
HSIIDC's approved layout specifies 60-metre-wide arterial roads and 45-metre-wide sub-arterial roads, plus dedicated cycling and pedestrian paths and planned bus terminals. Phase 1 funding of ₹940 crore covers early road, utility-tunnel and reservoir works across 587 acres.
