Sonalika Parent ITL Applies for Environmental Clearance for ₹620 Crore R&D Facility in Greater Noida

What Was Applied For

ITL has applied for environmental clearance to set up an Engineering, Research and Development facility at Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida. The proposed facility will span 25 acres. The company plans to develop a state-of-the-art Engineering and Design Center along with a large Research and Development hub spread over 25 acres in the IITGNL area.

The estimated investment is ₹620 crore. The project is expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

If approved, the new Engineering, Research and Development centre could help Sonalika enhance its product development capabilities and accelerate innovation in agricultural machinery. The facility may support the development of new technologies and future tractor models for both domestic and international markets.

Background and Competitive Context

This will be the third major tractor OEM to establish manufacturing base in Noida region after New Holland (operational) and Escorts Kubota (LoI issued). New Holland, a part of CNH, and Escorts Kubota have also been allotted land in Jewar for setting up greenfield manufacturing facilities. These developments highlight the growing interest of tractor manufacturers in expanding their operations in the state, driven by improving infrastructure and increasing opportunities in the agricultural machinery sector.

The Integrated Industrial Township-Greater Noida (IIT-GN), spanning 747 acres, is a flagship DMIC project located southeast of Greater Noida, abutting the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Delhi-Howrah railway line. Located just 11 km from Pari Chowk, the site offers excellent connectivity via Delhi-Howrah Railway Line, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and proximity to the Boraki transit hub and Dadri logistics hub.
