LDA IT City (Sultanpur Road / CG City) Connectivity: Airports, Expressways, Rail and Metro Status

Airport Access

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Amausi) is the nearest airport to LDA IT City. Marketing material and area guides put the site approximately 15 minutes from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport via Amar Shaheed Path, with HCL's own campus literature describing the airport as just 15 kilometers – a 20 minutes' drive from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, ensuring seamless domestic and international connectivity.

The airport itself is mid-expansion. Adani Airports announced a ₹10,000 crore investment plan to expand and modernise CCSIA, which currently handles around 8 million passengers annually; with the completion of Terminal 3, Phase 2, expected in 2026-27, and a further ₹900 crore investment, capacity is projected to rise to 14 million passengers a year. Terminal 3 itself was inaugurated in March 2024 and has significantly expanded passenger and cargo handling capacity. A runway extension and parallel taxi track are also planned as part of the wider upgrade, though these are separate from — and do not directly touch — the IT City site.

Expressways and National Highways

IT City is defined by two road corridors. LDA IT City is located on Sultanpur Road (NH-731), between the Sultanpur National Highway and Kisan Path (150m wide outer ring road). NH-731 itself runs south-east out of Lucknow and ends up in Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, giving the site a direct highway link toward eastern UP.

Kisan Path / Lucknow Outer Ring Road (NH-230): this is the project's most important piece of external infrastructure and is still under construction. NH 230, also known as Kisan Path or Lucknow Outer Ring Road, is an 8 lane... 104 km long quadruple carriageway road project, and the 6 lane 11 km long stretch between Kursi Road to Sultanpur road (Kisan Path) has been constructed by the NHAI. As of the most recent tracked progress, 65 of the 104 km are operational, and the section that meets Sultanpur Road is live, cutting the Adampur Naubasta-to-airport drive to under 35 minutes — down from over an hour in 2024. Separately, the ring road was completed and inaugurated in March 2024 in parts, diverting approximately 1.6 lakh vehicles daily away from the city's inner roads, though a Mohan Road-to-Bakshi Ka Talab patch remained inoperative at that stage per Wikipedia's tracked timeline. Treat "104 km" as the ultimate planned length and confirm the live status of any specific package before relying on it for site access.

Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway: under construction and not yet open. Real-estate trackers report it as 91 percent complete, opening in 2026 at Bani-Amausi, enabling a 35-minute Lucknow-to-Kanpur drive, with its Lucknow trumpet feeding directly into the southern stretch of Sultanpur Road.

Purvanchal Expressway: already operational and relevant mainly for regional/logistics reach rather than daily commuting. UP's longest expressway has its Lucknow terminus at Chand Sarai, on the Sultanpur Road belt, connecting to Ghazipur and the Bihar border in under 6 hours.

Internal feeder link: a short connector road ties the township directly into the ring road. The new 2-km feeder road now connects the heart of IT City directly to the Kisan Path (Outer Ring Road), making the airport a 20-minute drive; a separate report on the adjoining LDA housing scheme similarly notes a dedicated 2-kilometre approach road will connect the township directly to Kisan Path, significantly improving connectivity for future residents.

Rail Connectivity

No railway line runs through the IT City site itself. The nearest major station is Lucknow Charbagh (station code LKO), roughly on the city's southern edge. The station is part of the Northern Railway zone's Lucknow NR Division and the Varanasi–Lucknow line, and is also part of the Lucknow-Rae Bareli-Varanasi line, Lucknow-Sultanpur-Jaunpur City-Varanasi line, Lucknow-Kanpur Suburban Railway and Lucknow-Moradabad line — meaning trains toward Sultanpur run from Charbagh rather than from any station inside the CG City footprint. Charbagh is itself being upgraded: the station is currently undergoing a comprehensive ₹420-crore modernisation project under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with the integrated redevelopment of both the LKO and LJN stations anticipated for completion around the end of 2026. There is no dedicated freight corridor alignment reported as passing directly through the IT City land parcel; goods movement for the area currently relies on road (NH-731, Kisan Path) and the existing Northern Railway network via Charbagh.

Metro and Mass Transit

As of mid-2026, no metro line or station serves LDA IT City directly. The existing network is the Lucknow Metro Red Line, which is fully operational elsewhere in the city: full operation on the Red Line stretch from CCS International Airport to Munshi Pulia began on 9 March 2019, running through central Lucknow rather than along Sultanpur Road.

Lucknow Metro's Phase 2 — the only metro expansion currently funded and moving toward construction — does not extend to this corridor either. It covers the Charbagh–Basant Kunj corridor, an 11.16-km route with both underground and elevated stations, aiming to enhance connectivity across the old city and western parts of Lucknow, and received a major boost as the Union Budget 2026–27 allocated ₹1,450 crore for the project, paving the way for construction to commence shortly. Construction on this East-West corridor was reported as scheduled to commence in April 2026. None of the official Phase 2 documentation places a line or station within the Sultanpur Road/CG City footprint; any suggestion of a Sultanpur Road metro extension remains speculative and unconfirmed at this time, and should not be treated as a committed project.

Internal Road Network

Inside the scheme, roads are being built ahead of plot handover under the land-pooling model. Infrastructure lead: roads and sewage lines are being laid before residential possession, and on-ground reporting from early 2026 notes the development of the first Grid Road system (45m and 30m wide roads) in Mohari Khurd and Bakkas — two of the eleven villages within the scheme. A separate LDA township component planned adjacent to the IT/ITeS cluster describes internal roads planned in a grid pattern for better accessibility. These internal grid roads tie into the 2-km feeder connecting to Kisan Path described above, forming the primary in-out route for the site until further ring-road packages and any metro extension materialise.
