UP PWD Proposes ₹256 Crore Road Strengthening Program for DNGIR Corridor in 2026-27

What Was Proposed

The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has proposed road strengthening and widening projects worth over ₹256 crore for the 2026-27 financial year across Gautam Budh Nagar, which includes Noida and Greater Noida. The projects include widening and strengthening nearly 79 km of roads, along with construction of rural roads and minor bridges across different parts of the district.

Apart from urban roads, the proposal also includes over 62 km of rural road development under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana. Authorities have also proposed dedicated road safety improvements across selected stretches.

Why Now: DNGIR Growth Context

This connectivity push is expected to significantly improve access and accelerate development within the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR). The proposal comes at a time when Noida and Greater Noida are witnessing explosive growth in residential projects, industrial parks, data centers, logistics hubs, and expressway-driven development.

Officials say improved connectivity is critical for attracting investment, reducing travel time, and strengthening regional economic activity. Experts say rural connectivity remains crucial because villages around Greater Noida and Jewar are rapidly integrating into industrial and urban development zones.

Strategic Importance for DNGIR

Known at present as the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), the area is being developed as a future hub for industry, business and housing. As part of its Master Plan 2041, the authority has proposed a 130-metre-wide grid road network for New Noida. The project will develop land in four phases, covering over 8,000 hectares by 2041.

The development will occur in four phases, starting with 3,165 hectares by 2027, and will allocate 40% of the land for industrial use.

Broader State Infrastructure Push

The state government recently proposed over ₹34,000 crore for roads and bridge infrastructure in the broader UP Budget 2026 framework. The ₹256 crore DNGIR-focused proposal represents a targeted sub-component of this larger infrastructure strategy under CM Yogi Adityanath's government.

Implementation Status (as of July 2026)

The road development proposal was announced in May 2026 and remains in the proposal stage. The projects have been proposed by UP PWD for the 2026-27 financial year, meaning formal budget approval and tendering processes are still to follow. No construction commencement date has yet been announced.
