What YEIDA Announced

YEIDA plans to acquire 2,000 hectares of land in Aligarh's Tappal village for logistics parks and other projects outlined in its master plan. Land in Dorpuri Stharol (Aligarh) covering 178 hectares and 1,449 hectares in Tappal-Bajna will also be acquired for logistics parks and industrial development respectively.

A letter was sent to the Aligarh administration, requesting the initiation of a social impact assessment (SIA) for more than 1,600 hectares of land earmarked for a logistics park and industrial development in the Tappal-Bajna Urban Centre.

Prior Notification and Current Status

Last year, the Authority issued a notification to acquire 736 hectares in Tappal, and the social impact assessment (SIA) process is currently underway. This represents the first phase of a phased acquisition strategy spanning multiple years and villages across the Aligarh and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts.

The SIA Process and Timeline

The SIA, which evaluates the potential social effects on a community when land is acquired for development, will identify mitigation strategies and ensure fair compensation for affected farmers. The assessment will soon be conducted by Gautam Buddha University.

Funding and Financial Commitments

YEIDA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HUDCO for funding and has secured Rs 3,300 crore in interest-free loans from the State government. This funding mechanism underpins the broader land acquisition strategy across multiple sectors and districts.

Broader YEIDA Land Push

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated the process of acquiring over 5,000 hectares of land in 10 new sectors along the Yamuna Expressway. This land acquisition aims to support various projects, including the development of a fintech city and dedicated areas for Japanese and Korean cities. Tappal-Bajna remains a priority, but is part of this wider expansion across sectors 4A, 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 8D, 9, 10, and 11.

Strategic Context: Airport Proximity

Being close to Noida International Airport, the Authority is giving priority to industrial townships, besides logistics and warehousing activities here. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has proposed to develop a Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) facility at Tappal Bajna located within YEIDA.
