Land Acquisition Approved
MPIDC has acquired over 400 hectares of private land to develop Phase 2 of Vikram Udyogpuri, aiming to attract significant industrial investments and address rising demand for space. The MPIDC has initiated the process of land acquisition and is preparing a detailed project report for the second phase.
Phase 1 Capacity Reached
The current Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area spans 458 hectares and is nearing full capacity. According to Rajesh Rathod, Executive Director of MPIDC Ujjain, "The existing area is almost fully occupied, and we are receiving numerous investment proposals from various industries. Given the interest from investors, we have decided to proceed with Phase 2."
Current Industrial Base
Since its inception, Vikram Udyogpuri has seen significant industrial growth, with 58 industries having acquired land and over 15 of these already entering the trial and production phases. Notable companies that have secured land include PepsiCo India, Amul, Ashirvad Pipes, Symbiotic Life, Karnataka Antibiotics, Yashoda Linen, and Srinivas Pharma.
Investment Pipeline
The 58 currently operating industries have collectively proposed investments exceeding ₹5,000 crore. MPIDC has received around 200 investment proposals, requesting approximately 121 hectares of space in the area. This backlog of demand makes the Phase 2 expansion necessary.
Infrastructure Development
A major addition has been the installation of a 5.2 MLD common effluent treatment plant (CEPT) at a cost of over ₹24 crore, designed to improve the area's industrial ecosystem. The projected effluent generation from industries is approximately 3–4 MLD, so the CEPT is a crucial step in managing industrial waste and contributing to sustainability.
Strategic Showcase Planned
The industrial area will be prominently featured to investors at the Investors' Summit 2025 in Bhopal in February. This strategic project will be a highlight at the upcoming Investors' Summit 2025 in Bhopal this February. The timing aligns Phase 2 planning with major state-level investor engagement efforts.
What Comes Next
The process of acquiring the new land has already commenced, and a detailed project report is being prepared to kick-start the second phase of development. The DPR will outline infrastructure, land allocation timelines, and statutory approvals required before Phase 2 plots become available to investors.
