CM Naidu Drives Acceleration of 95 Amaravati Capital Projects Worth ₹50,999 Crore

The Review and Directive

Naidu directed officials and construction agencies to significantly accelerate the execution of Amaravati's capital city projects during a review meeting at the Secretariat. Reviewing progress with construction company representatives, the Chief Minister said the government was ensuring there would be no financial constraints and made it clear that delays in execution would not be acceptable.

While acknowledging that the pace of work had improved compared to the past, Chandrababu said it must be accelerated further. He urged construction companies to treat participation in the Amaravati project as a major opportunity and execute the works with maximum efficiency.

Project Scale and Targets

Naidu reviewed progress of 95 projects being undertaken in Amaravati at an estimated cost of Rs 50,999 crore. He instructed officials and contractors to achieve a minimum monthly work progress of 7.92 percent and directed all departments and senior officials to work in close coordination to resolve issues related to land acquisition, funds mobilisation, statutory approvals and project designs.

Integrated Capital Region Vision

Emphasising a broader vision for the capital region, Naidu said Amaravati should not be viewed merely as a cluster of 29 villages but as an integrated urban region along with Vijayawada and Guntur. He emphasised that infrastructure projects in Vijayawada and Guntur must be developed in synergy with Amaravati to give shape to a truly integrated mega capital.

The Capital Region is envisaged as a 7,420 sq.km metropolitan area, covering the cities of Vijayawada and Guntur, of which 217 sq.km has been carved out for the capital city of Amaravati.

Institutional Coordination

The Chief Minister instructed all departments and senior officials to work in close coordination on land acquisition, fund mobilisation, statutory clearances and project designs to prevent bottlenecks. The review meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. S. Sai Prasad, senior officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), and representatives of various contracting firms.

What This Changes

The July 28 directive marks an escalation in Naidu's oversight and accountability mechanisms for capital projects. Prior reviews have been conducted—in February and April 2026—but this meeting sets explicit quantified monthly targets (7.92%) for all 95 projects and raises the CM's personal monitoring via field visits. The integrated capital region framing signals a shift from viewing Amaravati as an isolated city to positioning it as the anchor of a 7,420 sq.km metropolitan region encompassing existing commercial hubs.

Next Steps

While acknowledging some improvement in the pace of works compared to the past, Naidu stated that the current speed was insufficient and asked contractors to significantly accelerate progress. The government will monitor execution through regular field visits by the Chief Minister and enforce monthly 7.92% progress benchmarks across all 95 projects. Coordination across land acquisition, fund mobilisation, and statutory approvals will intensify to remove delays.
