Kopparthy Industrial Smart City, also called Kopparthy IMC or the Kadapa Industrial City, is a National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) project in Chinthakommadinne mandal, YSR Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. How land is being assembled: consolidation, not a fresh consent drive

That means the bulk of the core site was consolidated state/APIIC land bank rather than land newly notified for compulsory acquisition from private farmers.

The most recent NICDC project-monitoring report confirms this pattern is continuing: a consultant for Detailed Master Planning and Preliminary Engineering for the Kopparthy Node, 5,760 acres in Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed, wherein GoAP proposed 2,595 acres of which approximately 2,400 acres (92%) of land is under possession of the state government. No separate RFCTLARR Section-11 notification, Social Impact Assessment, or district-level compensation award specific to Kopparthy was found in available public records — consistent with a land-transfer/consolidation model rather than a fresh farmer-consent acquisition drive.

When the Kopparthy and Orvakal industrial smart cities were formally cleared by the Union Cabinet in August 2024, the central government put a specific figure on Kopparthy: the industrial smart city would come up in Kopparthy in 2,596 acres and the centre would spend Rs 2,137 crore on this smart city, which would provide 54,500 jobs. This was part of a larger package — the Union Cabinet approved 12 new project proposals under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore, covering Kopparthy, Orvakal and the Nakkapalli pharma cluster together, so the Rs 28,602 crore figure should not be read as Kopparthy's budget alone.

Separately, at the state level, an acreage figure of 25,969 acres to be allotted to the Kopparthi industrial hub to provide employment to 54,000 people was also cited by the Chief Minister in the same announcement cycle — a much larger number than the 2,595–2,596-acre core site quoted elsewhere in the same reporting cycle. On project financing mechanics, NICDC's own monitoring report (dated 31 January 2026) records that 878 acres of land was transferred by the state government to the Project SPV, with matching equity amounting to Rs 300 crore released under the SPV that now covers both the Orvakal and Kopparthy nodes jointly — so this figure should be read as covering both projects together, not Kopparthy in isolation.

Disputes or farmer negotiations
