Meerut New Township (Mohiuddinpur) — Connectivity: Airports, Expressways, Rail, RRTS & Freight Corridor

Rail-based rapid transit: RRTS (Namo Bharat) and Meerut Metro

The township's single biggest connectivity asset is the Meerut South RRTS station on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. It lies near the starting point of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and the Meerut Bypass Road, making it a key access point for commuters entering or exiting the city. Meerut South Station became operational on 18 August 2024, and the corridor's final gap was closed with the launch of Sarai Kale Khan RRTS Station on 22 February 2026. A local guide to the route notes that Meerut South is the main entry point for commuters coming from areas like Mohiuddinpur, Aminagar, and Chhajjupur — the very villages being absorbed into the new township.

Running parallel to RRTS is the local Meerut Metro. The metro has been tacked along the RRTS route in Meerut to provide local connectivity, covering 21 km (13.0 mi). As of February 2026, the Meerut Metro, integrated with the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), is operational. Four stations — Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram — allow interchange between the two systems, per RRTS documentation, giving Mohiuddinpur residents both intercity (RRTS) and intra-city (Metro) options from the same station.

Expressways and national highways

The township lies on Delhi Road, close to where the Delhi–Meerut Expressway (National Expressway 3 / NE-3) reaches Meerut. Official designation: National Expressway 3 (NE-3), total length 82 km from Delhi to Meerut Bypass, fully operational since April 1, 2021, connecting the national capital to Meerut in just 45-60 minutes. It eliminates 31 traffic signals on the old Delhi-Meerut route and is completely access-controlled.

Beyond the expressway, Meerut is served by a wider highway grid. Three national highways (NH-58, NH-119 & NH-235) and two expressways pass through Meerut. Meerut is well-connected by road to major cities like Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Haridwar, Bulandshahr, etc. These highways, rather than any dedicated township expressway, are what carries most current traffic into and out of the Mohiuddinpur site.

Conventional rail

The township is not directly served by a railway station, but the wider city is. Meerut lies on the Delhi–Meerut–Saharanpur line, and has four railway stations: Meerut City, Meerut Cantt., Partapur and Pabli Khas, with Meerut City railway station the busiest. About 20,000 passengers travel daily to Delhi and back, and around 27 pairs of trains run between Meerut and Delhi.

Dedicated freight corridor and logistics

For the industrial/commercial component of the township's mixed-use plan, the relevant infrastructure is the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), which passes near Meerut without entering the city core. Due to non-availability of space along the existing corridor particularly near important city centers and industrial townships, the alignment of the corridor takes a detour to bypass densely populated towns such as ... Meerut. Despite bypassing the city, Meerut has been earmarked for a major freight-linked logistics hub: Meerut has been proposed as the largest logistics hub on the Eastern DFC, owing to its strong connectivity via several expressways. On overall progress, the construction of Eastern Freight Corridor has been completed by February 2024, meaning the corridor itself is operational nationally even though the Meerut logistics-hub component remains at the proposal stage.

Air connectivity

Meerut has no operating commercial airport as of mid-2026. The nearest airport is Hindon Airport at Ghaziabad, located 64 km (40 mi) away, while the major airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi is about 100 km (62 mi) away. The Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Airport is located at Partapur. That Partapur airstrip has been under a slow-moving upgrade for over a decade. The state government is preparing to fly 72-seater aircraft by expanding the airstrip of Meerut, and the airstrip has been registered in the name of Civil Aviation. The state government made 75 acres of land available for the first phase, and currently 75 acres of land have been acquired from the farmers and are in possession of AAI. Later-phase land needs are larger: subsequent phases will necessitate substantial land acquisition, with 300 acres required for the second phase and 200 acres for the third phase. No commissioning date has been announced, so investors should treat the Meerut airport as a proposed, not operational, facility.

Internal road network within the township

Layout work inside the township site is at an early stage. The township, being developed by the Meerut Development Authority (MEDA) on 294 hectares in Mohiuddinpur along Delhi Road, will follow a mixed-use model with residential, commercial, and industrial activities on different floors of the same buildings. Planning documents describe a phased rollout: development will be carried out in 31 sectors across two phases, and MEDA plans to start by constructing wide arterial roads. Work in two sectors is expected to be completed by November, with the township officially launched on Diwali when plot sales begin — as reported in August 2025. Until these arterial roads are built, access to individual sectors depends on existing Delhi Road frontage and village link roads.
