Expressways & Highways

Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway

Namo City is planned directly along the KMP Expressway, a greenfield city planned around the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and the upcoming Delhi-Katra Expressway. The KMP Expressway is 100% operational. The Manesar-Palwal stretch opened to traffic in 2016 and the Kundli-Manesar stretch was inaugurated in November 2018. The KMP Expressway is a 135.6 km access-controlled expressway that forms a ring around Delhi. The expressway passes through five major districts in Haryana: Sonipat, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Mewat (Nuh), and Palwal. Travel time savings: it helps reduce traffic in Delhi by giving trucks and long-distance vehicles a different route, making travel faster and smoother.

Delhi-Katra Expressway (National Expressway 5)

Namo City is planned around the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and the upcoming Delhi-Katra Expressway. The Haryana stretch of the Delhi-Katra Expressway is 135 km long, covering the Jhajjar district (Jasaur Kheri), Rohtak district (Hassangarh), and areas between Sampla and Kharkhoda in Sonipat district, as well as Lahkan Majra and Gohana in Jind. Status as of October 2026: In July 2026, on the 10th, the government formally inaugurated a section of about 157.92 kilometres of the highway made up of Packages 1 through 5. Recent updates indicate the project is 80–90% complete in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, but only about 43% (273 km out of 635 km) in Punjab as of September 2024. Full completion is targeted for March 2027.

Internal Road Network

Detailed specifications for internal roads within Namo City have not yet been publicly disclosed. The HSVP describes Namo City as a mixed-use urban centre with residential, commercial and industrial zones, built around housing, employment, education, health care and recreation. The blueprint speaks of a transport network designed so residents can reach public transport within 30 minutes of home.

Rail & Rapid Transit

Namo Bharat RRTS Integration (Proposed)

The city is also proposed to be linked to the Namo Bharat regional rail network, tying it into the wider Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) grid taking shape across the National Capital Region. However, as of October 2026, no Detailed Project Report (DPR), alignment map, or specific station locations have been announced for a dedicated corridor serving Namo City.

Delhi–Alwar Namo Bharat Corridor (Proposed for Haryana)

The Delhi–Alwar corridor: Length 164 km, construction began August 2026 (tentative), opening November 2031, pre-construction works are underway. With 22 stations planned along the way, the new line will offer an express connection through Manesar, Dharuhera, Rewari, and the industrial powerhouse of Bawal. Namo City's location (Jhajjar, Sonipat, Rohtak) places it north of the planned Alwar corridor; proximity benefit remains to be clarified in the corridor's finalised alignment.

Delhi–Meerut RRTS (Operational, Reference Network)

While not directly serving Namo City, the Delhi–Meerut RRTS, branded as Namo Bharat, is now operational and represents the template for regional rapid transit in the NCR. The station was inaugurated on 22 February 2026. The Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS spans approximately 82 km. Full operations along this route were inaugurated in February, 2026. Namo Bharat (RRTS) is India's first high-speed regional rail corridor, designed to cut travel time between Delhi and Meerut from over two hours on roads to just around 55 minutes.

Dedicated Freight Corridors

No dedicated freight corridor has been formally announced for Namo City. The KMP Expressway and Delhi-Katra Expressway serve general freight; further industrial-specific rail infrastructure would depend on tenant demand and subsequent HSVP/NHAI planning.

Metro & RRTS Proposals

Current Status: Proposed, Not Yet Detailed

Namo City's rail connectivity is mentioned in conceptual terms only. The city is also proposed to be linked to the Namo Bharat regional rail network, tying it into the wider Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) grid taking shape across the National Capital Region.

No metro extension from nearby Delhi Metro or Haryana metro has been announced for Namo City. The nearest Delhi Metro connectivity exists at Bahadurgarh (on KMP, Yellow Line extension proposed but not yet operational to that point as of October 2026).

RRTS Expansion Plans in Haryana (Context)

Haryana government has approved the final alignment of a 64-kilometre Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida corridor, approved February 2026). This is geographically separate from Namo City but illustrates RRTS expansion momentum in the state.

Airports & Air Connectivity

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), Delhi

Namo City does not have a dedicated airport. The nearest major airport is IGI, Delhi, accessible via the KMP Expressway (estimated ~50 km by road, 60–90 minutes depending on traffic). A key highlight of the corridor is its potential to provide direct connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.

Noida International Airport (Jewar, Uttar Pradesh)

The corridor is its potential to provide direct connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. Earlier projections suggest that travel time between IGI Airport Terminal 3 and Jewar Airport could be reduced to approximately 60 to 70 minutes once the corridor becomes operational. A proposed Namo Bharat RRTS branch to Jewar is in DPR stage but not yet under construction.

Ports

Not applicable. Namo City is a landlocked, inland development in Haryana.

Project Status & Timeline

Development Authority

The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has identified villages across Jhajjar, Sonipat and Rohtak districts for the roughly 9,000-acre project, asking farmers there to give their consent on the e-Bhoomi portal by 31 October. The state government is to build the basic infrastructure, while private investors are expected to be brought in to develop the city itself, a public-private model similar to what HSVP has used in other new sectors.

Current Phase: Land Acquisition (2026)

Namo City is in the initial stage of development. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini first announced the idea of Namo City in late June this year, when he met trade representatives from Delhi and pitched a 5,000-acre commercial township. Announcement of the 9,000-acre scope came in September 2026 with a land procurement advertisement. No construction has begun on the project itself as of October 2026. Connectivity infrastructure (KMP, Delhi-Katra) is already in place or near completion; RRTS integration remains a future proposal pending formal planning and approval.
