What Happened

The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) acquired over 400 hectares of private land to develop the second phase of Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area in Ujjain. Why the Expansion

Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area is one of the key projects of Madhya Pradesh govt and will be prominently exhibited to investors in the Investors' Summit 2025 happening in Bhopal in February. "We are developing Phase 2 of Vikram Udyogpuri. The existing area is almost fully occupied and we are receiving numerous investment proposals from various industries. Given the interest from investors in this region, we have decided to move forward with Phase 2," said MPIDC Ujjain executive director Rajesh Rathod.

Environmental Infrastructure

A major addition has been the installation of a 5.2 MLD common effluent treatment plant (CEPT) at a cost of over ₹24 crore, designed to improve the area's industrial ecosystem. The projected generation of effluents from industries in this industrial zone is approximately 3–4 MLD. This infrastructure supports the region's commitment to sustainable industrial operations.

The process of acquiring the new land has already commenced, and a detailed project report is being prepared to kick-start the second phase of development.
