HSIIDC's Global City Gets Multi-Highway Push: Dwarka Expressway Grade-Separated Interchange and Four-Route Link to Manesar, KMP Expressway Underway

What Was Announced

HSIIDC has announced a wide-ranging network being planned to link Global City with major NCR highways, with the multi-route access intended to head off future traffic congestion as the project scales up. The township will now be directly linked to the Dwarka Expressway, National Highway 48 (NH-48), which serves as the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Pataudi Road, and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

Infrastructure Under Construction

A grade-separated interchange and underground link will connect Global City directly to Dwarka Expressway, while a new wide arterial road near Narsinghpur will provide a direct link to NH-48. Connectivity to Manesar and the KMP Expressway will be strengthened through Pataudi Road, further integrating Global City into the regional transportation infrastructure.

These multi-route access points are designed to mitigate potential traffic congestion, a critical consideration for a project of this magnitude, especially as it scales up its operations and residential capacity.

Project Positioning and Scale

Global City is being positioned as the prospective Central Business District for the entire NCR, attracting an estimated investment potential of Rs 1 lakh crore, approximately $15 billion. Global City would be a world-class futuristic city being planned in Gurugram on Dwarka Expressway, based on live, work, and play at its core and a transit-oriented walk-to-work based future-ready and environmentally resilient design.

The officials informed the minister that the city has multiple access from National Highway-48, Pataudi Road NH 352W and Dwarka Expressway and has a mixed land use of 56.08 per cent commercial, 40.05 per cent residential, 2.73 per cent institutional and 1.14 per cent utility with an average FAR of 3 (ranging from 1.5 to 12.5)

India's Tallest Building Proposal

Haryana recently identified a 6.7-acre plot within Global City for a proposed 620-700 metre mixed-use tower — a structure that, if built as planned, would become India's tallest building, surpassing Mumbai's Palais Royale by a wide margin

The proposed structure is envisioned as a mixed-use landmark featuring premium office spaces, global corporate headquarters, hospitality facilities, observation decks and public areas. The 620–700 metre tower is at proposal and RFP stage as of June 2026. No bidding commenced. No construction date.

Development Timeline and Current Status

Initially announced in 2019, the project experienced a period of stagnation before being revitalized and re-launched by the state government in 2023. Work on the initial phase of the Global City project commenced last year, with a targeted completion date set for the end of 2026.

Officials have indicated that a substantial portion of the project's first phase has already been completed, with the remaining elements scheduled for completion within the next year. The full realization of the township's development is envisioned to extend through 2035.

Experts said the improved connectivity is likely to further boost real estate investment in surrounding sectors, even as they stressed that Global City's long-term success will depend on holistic, climate-resilient urban planning rather than road links alone. Urban transport experts said large greenfield projects need multiple entry and exit points rather than dependence on a single highway, which would ease congestion, aid emergency response and improve freight movement.
