Where this fits: the Panchgram/KMP framework
Manesar Global City is the Manesar-area node of Haryana's broader Panchgram programme, an umbrella scheme to build new townships along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. Haryana has proposed developing areas around the KMP Expressway as Panchgrams — five greenfield townships to be detailed in the state's Sub-Regional Plan, with development planned 2 to 6 kilometres on both sides of the expressway loop, governed by a dedicated Panchgram Development Authority. The scheme has had a chequered legislative history — Panchgram was former CM ML Khattar's dream project, and sources indicated the Panchgram plan approved in 2018 would be transformed and tweaked to meet the needs of today — but as of mid-2026 it has been formally re-anchored. The Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister confirmed that a Panchgram Development Authority has been constituted by the state government to develop 5 new cities along both sides of the proposed expressway. The Manesar node is further reinforced by the Manesar-Bawal Investment Region, a DMIC-linked national industrial priority zone anchoring the southern KMP stretch, which the plan mandates be integrated into all state sub-regional plans.
Expressways and highways
Manesar already sits on two operational expressway-grade roads, with two more under construction nearby.
- KMP Expressway / Western Peripheral Expressway (operational): The Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, also known as the Western Peripheral Expressway, is a six-lane expressway that encircles Delhi and was inaugurated in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The road itself is described as 135.6 km, 6-lane, and fully operational in current real-estate infrastructure trackers, and it carries ten toll entry and exit points, 52 underpasses and 23 overpasses, along with facilities like bus stands, parking spots, fuel stations, traffic police posts and multi-modal transit stations.
- NH-48 / Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway (operational): This is a 27.7 km six-to-eight-lane expressway connecting Delhi and Gurugram that continues through Manesar toward Jaipur; IMT Manesar is directly accessible via NH-48, which connects to Delhi, Gurgaon and Jaipur.
- Delhi–Mumbai Expressway (under construction): This corridor runs close to the KMP loop and the Western DFC will intersect the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway at two points in Haryana: Sancholi village in Gurgaon district, and Paroli village in Palwal district, placing a key interchange near the Manesar belt.
- DND–KMP Expressway / NH-148NA (operational): This 59 km, six-lane access-controlled expressway has existed since 12 November 2024, running from Delhi's DND Flyway through Faridabad and Ballabgarh to the KMP near Khalilpur, Nuh district, with a spur toward Jewar Airport — giving the Panchgram corridor a second route to the new Noida airport.
- Jewar (Noida International Airport) Greenfield Expressway (under construction): It runs from Sector 65, Faridabad to Noida International Airport in Jewar, covering about 24 km in Haryana (Faridabad/Palwal) and 7.3 km in Gautam Buddha Nagar, UP. As of October 2025, over 52 per cent of the project was already completed, and the entire expressway was planned to be finished by the end of 2026.
Rail and dedicated freight corridors
Freight rail infrastructure around Manesar is largely built; a dedicated passenger/freight orbital line is under construction.
- Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (operational): The Western DFC is listed as operational, a 1,506 km broad-gauge electrified line running from Dadri, Uttar Pradesh to JNPT, Navi Mumbai, completed in March 2026. Together with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, it forms a key backbone of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
- Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor / HORC (under construction): This is a 121.7 km line with a target completion by 2028, running from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar and Kharkhauda, and it will connect to existing radial railway lines from Delhi at Palwal, Patli, Sultanpur and Asaudha stations, and to the Western DFC at Prithala near Palwal. A section is already running: a 5.9-kilometre section between Manesar and New Patli has been operational since 2025, including a private rail link to the Maruti car factory, though the complete corridor is now targeted for completion by 2028. The route also includes 17 new railway stations and a 4.69-kilometre tunnel through the Aravalli range designed for double-decker trains.
- Existing radial connection: IMT Manesar's nearest conventional rail link is Patli Railway Station, about 10 km away.
Metro and RRTS proposals
No metro or RRTS line reaches Manesar today; all links are in planning, design, or pre-construction stage.
- Delhi–Alwar RRTS / Namo Bharat (approved, pre-construction): NCRTC has been running a pre-bid process to engage a General Consultant for the 105-km corridor, with the tender floated on 10 October 2025 and bids closing 18 November 2025. Construction is slated to begin in August 2026, with the commercial launch planned for November 2031. The main-line station list running through the Manesar belt includes Kherki Daula, Manesar, Panchgaon, Bilaspur Chowk, Dharuhera Depot, MBIR, Rewari, Bawal, SNB, Khairthal and Alwar. As of early 2026, official trackers show 0 km operational, 0 km under construction, 96 km approved and 93 km still proposed. Once running, travellers from Manesar are expected to reach IGI Airport in approximately 20 minutes.
- Gurugram Metro (GMRL) loop toward Manesar (planning/DPR stage): The Detailed Project Report is under final state review, and the planned loop is expected to link Golf Course Extension Road and Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), the Global City sector, and Manesar — but the currently sanctioned Gurugram Metro corridor does not extend to central Manesar, and a direct link is still a longer-term proposal. Funding discussed includes Rs 896.19 crore from the central government and Rs 4,556.53 crore from the Haryana government, with a World Bank loan proposal of roughly Rs 2,800 crore for Phase 2.
- HSIIDC pod taxi/metro proposal (announced, July 2026): HSIIDC has floated a plan for a high-speed Pod Taxi system and an extended Metro line, designed to bypass congestion on NH-48 and cut Dhaula Kuan–Manesar travel time from the current 90 minutes to two hours down to under 40 minutes. This is a proposal stage announcement with no construction timeline confirmed yet.
- Multimodal Transport Stations on the KMP (proposed, June 2026): Multiple Multimodal Transport Stations are planned directly on the KMP — at Manesar's Panchgaon Chowk integrating the Delhi-Alwar RRTS, Gurugram-Manesar Metro and Jhajjar-Palwal rail line, and at Kherki Daula in Gurugram combining RRTS, metro and bus connectivity. These appear in the Draft Regional Plan-2041 tabled for the NCRPB, not as sanctioned, funded projects.
Airports
No airport sits within the Panchgram/Manesar footprint itself; access is via two external hubs.
- Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (operational): Reached via NH-48, currently a road journey of 90 minutes to two hours during peak rush hours from Delhi to Manesar (and vice versa), which planned RRTS and metro links are intended to cut sharply once built.
- Noida International Airport, Jewar, UP (under construction as of late 2025): The airport was reported as almost ready to start operations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi possibly inaugurating it on 30 October [2025]. Road access from the Manesar/Panchgram belt is being built via the DND–KMP Expressway (operational) and the dedicated Jewar Greenfield Expressway (under construction, targeted for completion by end-2026).
Internal road network within the plan area
A formal internal road hierarchy specific to "Manesar Global City" has not been published; what exists is the wider KMP/Panchgram design framework. Development is planned 2 to 6 kilometres on both sides of the expressway loop, which is intended to give each Panchgram node direct frontage onto the KMP. Locally, IMT Manesar Chowk functions as the key landmark connecting Sector 1 IMT Manesar, Kasan Village, and NH-48, and existing industrial roads in IMT Manesar and its extension sectors form the base grid that any Global City-branded expansion would need to tie into. No dedicated internal arterial network, sector-road plan, or RERA-registered layout for a stand-alone "Manesar Global City" road grid was found in current public records as of July 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Is Manesar Global City connected by metro today?
No. As of July 2026 there is no operational metro line into Manesar; the nearest working stations are on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line (e.g., Huda City Centre), reached via NH-48 and local transport. A Gurugram Metro loop toward Manesar is still in the DPR/design stage.
When will the Delhi–Alwar RRTS reach Manesar?
Construction on the approved 105 km Sarai Kale Khan–Bawal phase, which includes Manesar and Panchgaon stations, is slated to begin around August 2026, with commercial operations targeted for November 2031.
Is the KMP Expressway fully built?
Yes. The six-lane, roughly 135–136 km KMP/Western Peripheral Expressway has been operational since it was inaugurated in 2018.
What rail freight infrastructure serves the area?
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, which runs through the Gurgaon-Palwal belt and intersects the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway near Sancholi and Paroli villages, is fully operational as of March 2026. A separate Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor through Manesar is under construction, with one short Manesar–New Patli stretch already running since 2025.
How does the plan connect to airports?
There is no airport within the plan area. Delhi's IGI Airport is reached via NH-48 (a road journey currently of 90 minutes to two hours in peak traffic), and the new Noida International Airport at Jewar is being linked via the DND–KMP Expressway and a dedicated greenfield expressway still under construction as of late 2025.
Is the Panchgram/Manesar Global City project still active?
The project has had a mixed history — reports in December 2024 suggested it had been shelved in favour of a broader 'Dashagram' industrial-towns scheme — but by April and June 2026, officials confirmed the Panchgram Development Authority had been constituted and the scheme was formally backed in the Draft NCR Regional Plan 2041.
